MISSION AND VISION

What do we stand for?

Rock Solid Christian Academy partners with parents to equip students for a lifetime of learning and glorifying God through community, discipleship, and a Christ-centered, University-Model® of education.

What is our vision for our students?

Discipling character witnesses of Christ for the next generation.

While at RSCA, students will encounter with awe and wonder God’s revelation of Himself through the study of all disciplines resulting the passion and commitment to living out their faith authentically. RSCA students grow to become people of strong character, secure in their identity in Christ, who courageously pursue their God given mission as citizens of His Kingdom.

THE ROCK SOLID EDUCATION MODEL

What is Rock Solid's University-Model®?

The University-Model® is a five-day academic program. Our students attend classes at Rock Solid three days on campus and two days at home. Teachers plan and provide assignments for at-home school days and are readily available if you need additional support on the school-at-home days.

This model combines the best attributes of traditional schooling with the best attributes of homeschooling, integrating both into one model. The result is a quality, cost-effective, college-preparatory education that provides parents with time for imparting their own faith and values to their children. Rock Solid values families and appreciates the importance of family time. We know that the fulfillment of God’s purposes on the earth depends on godly families who know Him and make Him known.

“The University-Model® is perhaps more reliant on parents than anything else in the education of children. Because the UM returns the gift of time to families, parents have the opportunity and the means to powerfully influence their children’s academic, moral, and spiritual success."

The key to the success of the University-Model® concept involves the integration of a biblically-based, parentally-guided, Christian faith and a sound, teacher-directed, academic environment. Teachers are in charge of all direct instruction in the central classroom, while encouraging, training, and expecting students to learn the material assigned through independent practice and lessons at home. The University-Model® helps parent to “succeed in their Biblically mandated roles (Deuteronomy 6: 6-7) as the primary guardians of their children’s education. In the UM school, these roles change as the student moves through the various grade levels."

Rock Solid parents are not alone! We walk alongside our parents throughout this important journey. RSCA offers ongoing support to families through frequent workshops and training sessions designed to inform and encourage our parents. We also offer guidance counseling for college preparation and assist with the search for scholarships and grants.

PARTNERING WITH PARENTS

What are our parents expected to do?

Rock Solid parents are essential partners in the education and discipleship of their children. While teachers provide lesson plans and content instruction at school, on school-at-home days parents take the lead, implementing teacher-provided assignments, activities, and projects. As co-teachers, parents are empowered to be their child's encourager, advocate, and accountability partner.

Our most successful parent-partners help their students achieve the best possible outcomes by:

  • Being familiar with course syllabi and assignment sheets for all courses.
  • Making sure their child works diligently on assignments whenever the child is outside the central classroom.
  • Monitoring their child’s progress, including the timely completion of satellite assignments.
  • Taking responsibility for instruction at home as directed by the classroom teacher.
  • Discussing with their child matters of belief, morality, and values as they arise in course readings and assignments.
  • Monitoring their child’s completion of all reading assignments to ensure they are appropriately paced and completed on schedule.
  • Assisting their child in organizing his/her thoughts concerning more sophisticated analytical and critical essays.
  • Providing an audience for their child to practice speeches or presentations.
  • Assisting their child in gathering research and study materials from local libraries.
  • Assisting their child in locating scripture references for discussions, tests, or projects.
  • Assisting their child by proofreading the child’s written work.
