Last week, Rock Solid students warmly welcomed Gilbert and Maria Garcia, missionaries who serve in Juarez, Mexico with Anchor Children’s Ministry (ACM), into their classrooms! Maria and Gilbert distributed pen pal letters from Juarez and discussed the question, “What is a missionary?”
They shared with students how God called them to start an elementary school and then a junior high school in Juarez. Their work in Juarez began over twenty years ago!
Rock Solid’s Treibel Family (Sylvia 5th, Valerie 4th) has been involved with the schools in Juarez since before there was a Treibel Family! Heidi Treibel lived and worked alongside Maria and Gilbert in 2006-2007 and has taken about a dozen groups on mission trips to Juarez since then. Once Dustin and the kids were in the picture, serving in Juarez and supporting ACM became a family endeavor. Heidi and Dustin currently serve on the board of ACM. The Treibel family will head down to Juarez next month for a short mission trip.
