You'll often find Rena Grayson at eye level with one of our Rockstars, helping put on a band-aid or giving a much needed hug. This is Rena's second year at Rock Solid, and she fills a very important role as one of our school aides.
Rena was born in Denver but moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa when she was five. She met her husband, CJ, at Bible College in Florida. She and CJ celebrated their 20th Anniversary in October, and have three kids, Eric (19), Lily (almost 17) and Kai (14 in December). Rena is very artistic in nature; she loves music, theater, drama, dance and anything that has to do with the arts. She loves to worship, and appreciates how God uses music to minister to the body of Christ.
The Graysons found Rock Solid through their church, and believed it could be a good fit for their youngest son, Kai, who was going into seventh grade. They recognized that he needed a different model than public or homeschool, and saw value in the University Model.
When Rena started working at Rock Solid, she fell in love with the students, staff and UM Model. "It’s a joy to love students through all of their growing, and watch them begin to understand who Christ is calling them to be," she shares.
Rena is grateful to minister to students as they navigate big feelings and worth. "It's important to help them understand that their feelings are just emotions," she states. "Emotions not the determining factor of their worth."
We are so grateful for the love and ongoing ministry Rena brings to our students, staff and parents!
