We chose Rock Solid because we believe homeschooling offers the opportunity to provide tailored academic instruction as well as precious family time, but also wanted our girls to have the benefits of a Christian educational community.
It's hard to pick one thing, so we'll pick two! We love the fellowship and community of other families who have chosen this unique approach to education, and also the hearts of RSCA's teachers who truly love our kids with the love of Christ.
Unicorn! Rock Solid is one of a kind in the Denver metro area - not only in the University Model philosophy, but also in its close-knit community. We truly feel like the school is comprised of families and staff who partner together, using our unique gifts, for the holistic thriving of our students.
Our family recently took a cruise to Mexico and had to miss a week of school. RSCA's first grade teacher surprised us before the trip with a colorful binder filled with fun learning activities that were specific to our modes of travel and ports of call! Instead of simply assigning workbook pages and handouts, she took the time to facilitate real-world learning that was meaningful and relevant. We learned together about the rankings of ship officers/crew, charted our voyage on a map, and learned about the unique aspects of the ports we visited - firsthand! It wasn't a "have to," it was a fantastic way to make our vacation an even more memorable experience. This just wouldn't typically happen in most schools and we were blown away!
Our kids are still very early in their formal education, but we as parents strongly believe Matthew 16:26 ("What good is it if someone gains the whole world but loses his soul?"). If our purpose on this earth is to glorify God, then a Christian education rightly prioritizes building a strong foundation for knowing and loving Christ. Our hope for our kids is, of course, to excel academically, and eventually engage in their communities as a light in the darkness, whatever that looks like.
We would encourage other parents to consider an education that not only emphasizes high academic standards, but also recognizes the eternal soul of each child made in the image of God. An education with Rock Solid demands more of us, as parents, than a typical school, but it is an investment in the entirety of our children's lives that, we believe, is stewarding well the children He's loaned us.
